Hi there, I’m Alex.
Here are some quick facts about me:
• I self-identify as an Enneagram 4.
• I was born with a cleft lip & palette and have had four restorative surgeries.
• My favorite movie is Forrest Gump. My favorite trilogy is the Batman series. Don’t @ me.
• I ran track & cross country for four years in high school, and now my knees are paying for it.
• Until I was 18, I had never traveled outside of the southern U.S. I have now been to many states as well as Botswana, South Africa, Guatemala, Mexico, and Haiti.
• I hope to own a successful boutique hotel one day.

My passion for creativity began at the ripe young age of five years old. I can recall someone in my family gifting me a RoseArt brand drawing kit with which I crafted unique masterpieces for The Louvre. The Louvre resembled the household refrigerator and a tabletop picture frame for awhile (eventually I made it onto the cinderblocks of my high school walls as a senior art student). Regardless of where it was displayed, I was proud of my creative bent early.
In elementary school, during rainy After School Program days, I would sit at the lunchroom table and draw Mario & Luigi with John Rodgers. At home, I would religiously re-arrange my room. On the baseball team, I typed up nightly lineups, started my first Eteamz website, and designed all-star team jerseys (all using Windows 98 or 2000).
In college, I majored in communication and [nearly] minored in Spanish. As I wrestled through vocational options, I took a typography class with the beloved Rickie Crotts. A fond memory I have is completing a project where I designed a “logo” using my initials (see above for one of them). I had to come up with 100 variations of the two letters, and did so successfully. How hard could it be to mimic Times New Roman for one, do block letters for another, combine the letters at different intersecting points? Crotts, known in the class for an unforgiving personality and a harsh grading scale, wrote a personal note on my project that said “Well done!” I left that class with a 100, and left college with my degree in Communication.
I graduated during the recession and worked as a bank teller for nearly two years. It has since been erased from my memory.
Roam Innovative Workplace took me in at an ideal time in my life. I was passionate about building a creative résumé, and I would be working for a thriving business still in its formative years. From witty Instagram captions to strategic planning guides, headshots to coffee shots, and the ability to grow, Roam provided me an opportunity to finally dive head-first into a career. Side note: I got engaged, married, and our first child was born during my time at this company.
I have since worked further into the hospitality sector with Vacasa, as well as two lead marketing roles with a since-closed general contracting company and WinShape Foundation.
Now, as someone confident enough to freelance, I hope to build these same stories with you. What will we create together?
